The Deadly Toxin was started in 2015 by me and my creative partner Seth Murchison. Having both drawn comics for UT's student newspaper, The Daily Texan, we became disillusioned by the paper's disinterest in challenging, confrontational work.
The founding principle of the magazine was to print things that would or could never be printed in The Daily Texan. Though primarily comic-focused, The Toxin also ran think pieces, photography and illustration, and often included screen-printed posters and other ephemera.
The Toxin ran for seven issues, released intermittently through 2016 and 2017. The size and dimensions of the magazine varied from issue to issue.
Below are comics from The Deadly Toxin Issues #5, #2, and #1, respectively.
